Kaipātiki Community Facilities Trust

Glenfield College Careers Advisory Department

Glenfield College offers career advice to students on subjects of employment and skills training. They aim to help students with their career decisions, provide awareness of career options and assist students in their transition from schools to work. They offer tertiary course information, career directories, career guest speakers, and access to careers advisor. This is for all Glenfield College students from year 9 to 13.

Development

Northern Skills and Jobs Hub

Address: 2 Kaipātiki Road, Glenfield, Auckland

Works with education providers, schools and businesses to help local young people get into employment. They offer services such as CV writing, advice on training and certifications, job interview training and career guidance.

Northern Skills and Jobs Hub also works alongside Skills in Construction (government programme) who offer free recruitment services into Auckland’s construction and infrastructure sectors.

Steps to Success Resilience Program

Under the umbrella of Northern Jobs and Skills Hub, this program works across the Northshore and Rodney region, offering pathways to education and employment through a mentor-like resilience program, teaching young people overall life and employment skills.

Glenfield College Adult and Community Education offers a range of services from basic computer skills, skills courses in accountancy and business, driving courses, workplace skills courses and language courses in English, Te Reo Māori, French, Spanish and Mandarin. These courses do require a payment to attend, with prices varying depending on the course.

Hearts and Minds

Hearts & Minds NZ is a community development agency with an integrated focus on wellbeing. They connect people to relevant resources available and offer various groups such as wellbeing and resilience groups and community training workshops. 

Home and Family Counselling

Home and Family Counselling offer a range of services for families and young people. For young people aged 15-18, they offer an 8-week workshop called ‘I have, I am, I can.’ This workshop looks at self-confidence and focuses on how these youth can reach their full potential. Along with this program, Home and Family Counselling offer two other workshops on creating respectful relationships and managing emotions.

North Shore Women’s Centre

The Fono Health and Social Services- Northcote

The Youth Health Hub (Healthwest)

The Youth Health Hub is a free health service to young people aged 12-24 years living in West Auckland, North Shore, and Rodney. They offer free general Youth Health Clinics by appointment throughout the week.

BAIS provides free independent information, advice and advocacy to beneficiaries and low-income people in regard to financial assistance from Work and Income NZ and the Inland Revenue Department.

Work and Income (WINZ)

Work and Income provide financial assistance to those on low income or not working. They also offer support in work and housing. They have a range of services such as training and work experience, childcare support payments, employer services, help with housing and covid-19 support.
